Tucked away in the centre of the pretty village of Harbottle in the heart of the Northumberland National Park Bonny Barn is a hidden gem. Having been lovingly refurbished this quirky little cottage provides a romantic retreat in a tranquil rural setting, and from the terraced garden there are stunning views across open countryside. At the top of the garden there is a summer house which guests are welcome to use. The owner takes great pride in the garden and can provide guests with seasonal vegetables as they are harvested. The many trips to be enjoyed could include the Scottish Borders, the Heritage Coastline, Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Water and the many historic castles and stately homes such as Cragside and Wallington Hall. Avid walkers can begin a day out on the moors direct from the door of the cottage. There is a lovely walk of about 5 miles from Harbottle Castle up to see the Drakestone, a massive sandstone block which rests high on a hill above Harbottle. In Druid folklore the stone is said to have healing powers. From the top there are wonderful views overlooking Harbottle Lough, the Coquet Valley and across to the Cheviot Hills. Walking, cycling, fishing, climbing all available in the area. Ground floor - Open plan sitting room with flat screen TV with satellite freeview, small kitchen area with 2 ring gas hob, slow cooker, George Foreman Grill, larder fridge and folding dining table with chairs.
