This recently refurbished delightful Victorian property is situated in the heart of the bustling village of Bowness, a short stroll from the shores of Lake Windermere.
The owners have gone to great efforts to keep things minimal but yet afford all guests the comfort of a modern holiday home and it has been furnished and equipped to a high standard, with everything you would require for a relaxing stay in the lakes.
Entrance through the gate to a small yard with secure under stairs bike storage area and external steps which lead to the house entrance and small balcony area with furniture. Leading off the entrance hall is the boot room, with ample storage for all your outdoor gear. The large and spacious lounge with widescreen TV, selection of DVD's and board games to keep you entertained in the evenings. A large bay window overlooking the village, leather sofas and a gas fire make the lounge very comfortable and inviting. The modern kitchen / dining area has been restyled to allow for enjoyable evenings dining in and is well equipped with all the usual facilities, including a dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave and an adjoining utility room which house the washer and dryer along with further storage. Please note that laundry facilities are only made available to guests staying 5 nights or more.
The large and spacious family bathroom is fully tiled has a WC, wash basin and a separate bath and double shower cubical. Next to this is the first of our Kingsize bedrooms with large wardrobe. Free wi-fi is available.
Onto the next floor, leading off the landing area there is twin bedroom, double bedroom and master Kingsize bedroom en-suite. Each of the bedrooms are very bright and airy. Views of the lake and nearby fells can be glimpsed from many of the upper floor bedrooms.
Outside the hillside garden is accessed via steps to the rear of the property. The terraced gardens beautifully landscaped in Spring 2015 now afford guests to be able to sit and admire the distant fells and lake or just to watch the world go by. Al fresco dining may also be enjoyed as its position makes the most of sunny afternoons.
There is parking with the property for one car, or possibly a family saloon and a small compact. There are two car parks, (one is 100 yards from the property), that currently charge £5 / day. There is also on-street parking around the village.
Holland's will accommodate 8 people with 2 x king size bedrooms, 1 x double and a twin. The twin room can also have an extra 2 single beds made up. This is ideal for families with four people able to sleep in the room. Please note that there is an extra charge per person per night for over 8 people or for each extra bed.
Many visitors have come to love the bustling atmosphere around the picturesque village of Bowness and with a wonderful selection of places to eat and drink, you will be spoiled for choice. There is an abundance of local walks that can be started straight from the house. The nearest is Brantfell which affords amazing views of Lake Windermere. Lake Windermere is a short stroll away with ample supply of water activities and cruises which run all year round.
Covid-19 and your stay 4th July 2020 onwards
Like everyone, we are having to adjust to do our best to keep everyone safe whilst we navigate our way through this pandemic. We ask our guests to be responsible and do everything that they can to keep themselves and others Covid free. In order to keep our cleaning crew and our guests as safe as we are able to, we have taken the best advice that we can find and have introduced a new cleaning regime to ensure that all services are properly cleaned after each guest departs. To do this safely we have to leave Holland's empty for 3 hours after each departure to ensure the safety of the cleaning crew and the cleaning will now take far longer and will cost far more than it used to to do. As a result, we have had to slightly increase the guests' share of the cost and have implemented a check-in time of 5pm and a check out time of 9am to allow sufficient time for the safe and proper cleaning to be done. We are supplying hand sanitiser for our guests but would urge them to continue to regularly wash their hands and to wear their own face masks in crowded spaces.
