Travel Purpose: business

Positive: I booked it last minute because the hostel I had booked near the river was flooded. This hostel is a safe choice in the rainy months. It's a little walk to the touristy street near the river, but the whole area seems to be geared towards tourists, and activities that will get them to pay more. I was told to spend a few days here but I think one to two days are enough. Great for window shopping.

Negative: The building is old and shows it's age. They also wanted to charge me 3% extra for paying by a credit card. This seems common in Vietnam everywhere, which is fine but should be disclosed by booking.com when making a reservation. Finally, another thing common in Vietnam is non- smoking and smoking sections separated by a few feet of open air only as if that is enough. The lobby is the only place with seating arrangement but the smokers smoke a few feet away, technically outside the door, but the door is wide open and the smoke all comes inside. I would recommend non-smokers avoid the hostel.
