Negative: Located in a semi uphill , not for me. Our stay at Hôtel de la Coupole – MGallery, Sapa was a mix of visual charm and practical disappointment. The hotel’s strongest point is its design. The décor is dramatic and photogenic—very “French-Indochine” in concept—with plenty of stylish corners that look beautiful in photos. But beyond the aesthetics, the experience did not feel commensurate with the price point. In our case, the staff were not particularly warm or attentive, and the overall service felt indifferent rather than welcoming. The property also felt aged, and the room did not have that fresh, well-kept feel you expect from a luxury-branded stay. Interiors looked a bit worn, and the overall impression was that it is no longer maintained to the standard its reputation suggests. Having stayed in other hotels in Sapa, I can say quite plainly that in terms of service, cleanliness, and facilities, there are properties that perform much better—and often at a lower cost. If you are choosing La Coupole, go for the decor and ambiance; just don’t expect the rest of the experience to match the premium pricing.
