Upstairs, original thumb latch doors open into a wonderful double bedroom with a king bed, double-glazed window and fitted shutters as well as a large storage and a pretty Victorian feature fireplace. The second bedroom contains two twin beds and overlooks the rear. A bathroom contains a traditional style free-standing rolltop bath with chrome claw feet and a shower attachment over.

To the rear of the property is an enclosed courtyard garden with space for table and chairs for relaxing in the evening or with a morning coffee.

Thelward is just a few moments’ walk into the centre of this historic village with a huge array of shops, tearooms, public houses and art galleries and antique shops. In fact, Long Melford’s largest and longest running antiques centres is just next door. Elsewhere in the village are two fantastic stately homes which are periodically open to the public (Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall) and there is a beautiful nature reserve with stunning walks along the River Stour close by.

Further afield is the equally beautiful Lavenham, one of the country’s best preserved medieval wool towns as is Clare, Suffolk’s smallest town. The cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds is around half an hour’s drive and the thriving Suffolk market town of Sudbury is under ten minutes away.
